Why is a new school being proposed?

The proposal responds to increasing demand for primary school places arising from nearby housing development, alongside the opportunity to improve the quality of school facilities in the area.

What will happen to Brize Norton CE Primary School?

It is intended that pupils currently attending Brize Norton CE Primary School would be accommodated within the new school if the proposal goes ahead.

The future use of the existing school site is not part of this feasibility study.

Will my child have a place at the new school?

Based on the current proposal, all pupils on roll at Brize Norton CE Primary School would be accommodated within the new school.

Where will the new school be located?

The proposed site is at Brize Meadow, to the east of Carterton, within a new residential development.

How big will the new school be?

The school is planned as a 1 form entry (1FE) primary school, with one class per year group and a pupil admission number of 30 per year group.

Will the school be expanded in the future?

The site has been assessed as being large enough to accommodate future expansion if required.

Will there be nursery provision?

Options including nursery provision have been considered as part of the feasibility work, but no final decision has been confirmed at this stage.

Will the school support children with additional needs?

The proposal includes a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) to support pupils with additional needs.

When would the new school open?

If approved, the current programme indicates completion in 2028, ready for a new academic year.

Has a final decision been made?

No. The project is currently at feasibility and consultation stage. Feedback from this consultation will help inform next steps.
